‘Draksha’ as it is called in Sanskrit is described a round, shiny fruit in varied colors with or without seeds, it alleviates excess vata & pitta in the body , it is anti-inflammatory, great for people suffering from constipation and allergies, also called ‘Mrudveeka’ i.e. that which gives mriduta or softness to the body , it strengthens all the soft tissues of the body like lungs and even the heart, it is great for a glowing skin and is considered a fruit for the kings, it can be taken by even Diabetics in moderation

Nutritional aspect

Although rich in natural sugars, they are low in glycaemic Index and are fat-free.
Rich in bio-flavanoids, pectins , aromats, minerals and phenolic compounds , they are considered anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory . Reservatrol a phytocompound in grapes in actually know to reduce risk of NIDDM and certain cancers. Grape-seed oil is one of the most sought for supplements in the western world

they form the basis of wines and serve as a basis of cheese tasting.


Unripe or raw grape is not considered great in ayurveda , can increase pitta in the body
