Hi!
I see so many teenagers opting for a oil free or no oil diet and it is alarming for me, it is a general misconception that eating natural oils with meals make you fat, this all started from 1970s on recommendations at the behest of refined oil manufacturers and continued till the turn of the century, refined oil or oil generated from palm oil is not good for you, so if you are reading this and have not done it already, eliminate refined oils and include natural oils in your diet
Also, recent research suggest that healthy oils in diet actually help in aiding weight loss , thus originated the ever famous #ketodiet … so most people are confused with dietary fads coming every now and then
Ayurveda the eternal science on dietary wisdom distinctly enlists the reason of including oils ( mainly sesame seed oil and coconut oil ) in your diet, also use of oils to treat specific disorders, therefore it is advisable to follow a science that has always stood up to test of time
The general benefits of oils are
1. Oils help in maintaining bone health, reduces bloating and dryness in the body (pacify vata)
2. They are great for skin and eliminating them from your diet leads to dry skin and may even increase active acne (twachaya)
3. They are thermogenic (ushna) thus aid in losing weight and maintenance of blood glucose levels in diabetics
4.they promote strength (Balvardhana) and reduce risk of strokes, depression and neurological disorders
5. They maintain help hormonal balance , prevent PCOD &PCOS , prevent infertility(yoni vishodhana)
.
.
Anything in excess should be avoided , and same apply for oils
To summarize, thus include oils (sesame, coconut and olive oils ) in your diet as an essential part to cook with and garnish with
